What Are Demon Eyes? (And Are They Street Legal?)

Demon eyes are one of those mods that completely changes the face of a car, and once you've seen a clean set, it's hard to unsee. If you've been wondering what they actually are and what's involved, here's the rundown.

What are demon eyes?

Demon eyes are LEDs installed inside the projector itself, so the projector lens glows a color when they're on. It gives the headlight a piercing, "the car is staring at you" look. The classic look is a deep red glow, which is where the demon name comes from. Ours are full RGB, so you're not locked to red.

They don't change how your low or high beam performs. The projector still throws light the same way. The demon eye is purely a visual effect layered into the optic.

Color you control

Our demon eyes are full RGB. Instead of being stuck with one color, they use addressable LEDs you control right from your phone. Run deep red one day, ice blue the next, or set custom show effects that shift however you like. The RGB demon eyes run on their own dedicated Bluetooth module and phone app, so you control color and effects wirelessly. See our RGB Demon Eyez headlights.

How they're installed

Demon eyes can't be added from the outside. The headlight has to be opened up (gently heated so the lens separates from the housing), the LED installed in the projector, the wiring routed out, and then the housing resealed properly so it stays watertight.

That last part matters. A headlight that isn't resealed right is the number one cause of foggy, condensation filled headlights down the road. It's doable as a DIY if you're handy and patient, but there's real risk of cracking a lens or trapping moisture if it's your first time. This is the kind of build a lot of people would rather have done right the first time.

Are demon eyes street legal?

Short answer: a colored demon eye glowing while you drive is forward facing color, which means it falls under show and off road use, not street use. Anything facing forward needs to be white or amber to stay legal. We cover the full breakdown in our street legal guide.

The good news: most owners simply keep the demon eyes off while driving and switch them on for photos, meets, and shows. With a wireless RGB set, that's just a tap on your phone.

Want a set?

We build full RGB demon eyes into custom headlights for a range of platforms, controlled wirelessly through their own Bluetooth module and phone app, hand built in California and backed by our 1 year warranty. Browse our custom headlights or message us with your car and the look you're after.

FAQ

Do demon eyes affect my headlight brightness?
No. They're a separate visual effect in the projector and don't change your low or high beam output.

Can I get demon eyes in any color?
Yes. Our demon eyes are full RGB and run on a Bluetooth module with a phone app, so you can change them to any color and run show effects anytime.

Are demon eyes legal to drive with?
A colored demon eye facing forward is for show and off road use. Most owners keep them off while driving and turn them on when parked.
