LEDPODz and LEDSTRIPz: The Building Blocks for Custom Light Builds

If you're building your own lights, you need bright, reliable LEDs that are easy to work with. That's exactly why we make LEDPODz and LEDSTRIPz. Both are designed and assembled in the USA to take the headache out of DIY builds.

What are LEDPODz?

LEDPODz are compact, universal LED pods built to drop into almost any reflector based headlight or taillight. Each pod packs 3 bright dual color LEDs in a small package, with easy soldering pads and a simple connecting design. No resistors needed, just feed them 12v and you're running.

Because they're dual color, they're perfect for switchback style setups (white and amber). You can position them however your build calls for, drill a few small holes and lock them in with JB Weld, and shape your design exactly how you want it. They work with Ghozt Lighting and exLED modules, or as a standalone design. Every LEDPOD is backed by a 2 year warranty. See LEDPODz.

What are LEDSTRIPz?

LEDSTRIPz are our answer to the old, hot running power LEDs that used to fail. Each strip measures just 0.31in by 0.73in and packs 4 ultrabright dual color LEDs, small enough to fit almost anywhere.

A single panel includes 80 breakable strips with solder pads on all four sides, so you can connect them vertical or horizontal, build a 10 inch run or a 20 inch run, or create custom shapes with no messy wiring. They're cuttable every 4 LEDs, run on 10 to 12v, include resistors, and carry the same 2 year warranty. See LEDSTRIPz.

Pods or strips: which do you need?

  • LEDPODz shine when you're replacing reflector LEDs or placing individual points of light exactly where you want them.
  • LEDSTRIPz are best when you want continuous runs, custom lengths, or shapes you build segment by segment.

Many builds use both. And because both are dual color, pairing them with a switchback or sequential module like the Ghozt V5 unlocks white to amber switching and animated signals.

What you'll need

These are DIY parts, so plan on some basic soldering and wiring. In most cases the headlight or taillight needs to be opened to install LEDs, then resealed properly (see our foggy headlight guide for why sealing matters). If you're comfortable with a soldering iron, these make the build genuinely fun.

Want it built for you?

If you'd rather skip the bench time, we build custom lights using these same parts every day. Message us and we'll handle it, hand built and warrantied.

FAQ

Do LEDPODz and LEDSTRIPz need resistors?
LEDPODz need no resistors, just a 12v source. LEDSTRIPz include resistors and are ready to wire.

Are these addressable RGB?
No. LEDPODz and LEDSTRIPz are dual color, which is great for switchback. For full addressable RGB, look at our NeoPODz paired with a compatible controller like the BlueGhozt Lite from Ghozt Lighting.

Can I cut LEDSTRIPz to length?
Yes. Each strip is cuttable every 4 LEDs, so you can build custom runs and shapes.
